TRADITIONS & UTENSILS

  nahm mon (blessed water)

Thailand

Prior to using nahm mon, i.e. ‘blessed water’, wax from a candle is dripped into it by a monk, to symbolize Enlightenment.

To hasten their merit, believers sometimes throw coins into the situla-like water vessel, as a kind of tamboon.
