  me-ze

Myanmar

Me-ze is the Burmese name for a fast-growing (semi-)evergreen tree that grows up to 20 meters high, and which is found in the plains and forests of Myanmar, especially in the Mandalay region, i.e. around Taungthaman Lake (fig.), as well as to the north of Mandalay.

The tree, known by the botanical names Madhuca latifolia and Bassia latifolia, bears tiny flowers that in Myanmar are collected and dried by the locals, after they have fallen from the tree (fig.).
