  ma-li farang

Ma-li farang is the Thai name for an up to about 2 meters tall shrub that originates from India.

 

It has somewhat spiny branches with milky sap, which is poisonous if ingested, and blooms almost year-round, bearing flowers with white petals and a pale yellowish center, and similar in shape to the flower emblem depicted on the flag of Hong Kong (fig.).
