  kanom kai hia

Thailand

Kanom kai hia, literally ‘monitor lizard egg sweets’, is a sweet snack of small balls, and is also known as kanom kai hong, i.e. hamsa egg sweets’.

They are made of dough and fried until golden brown and crisp, whilst these are also sprinkled with small black seeds.
