  cheroot filters

Myanmar

To produce a cheroot (fig.), first a filter is made from dried corn leaves that are rolled into a piece of paper.

The filters are made in a large, easy-to-handle size, and will be fitted into the cheroot as it is rolled and cut off together, as the latter is cut to the right size at the end of the process.

Before this can happen, the cheroot is is fastened with a kind of glue made on the basis of rice, whilst a cigar band –with the brands name printed on it– is added. Then the top is closed off by pressing the leaf's ends into a pointed tip.

Then, the other side which is fitted with the filter is cut off, thus curtailing the cheroot to the right size, using a wooden measuring object.
