After the initial (fig.) preparations, the wax image is covered with a mixture made of plaster, sand and water, and tied with a metal wire.

 

This is done a second time and it is put into a kiln, in order to make the wax melt and create a hollow cavity of the desired shape.

Hot, liquid bronze is then cast (fig.) in the hollow cavity, where before the wax was. After solidifying, the covering is smashed, revealing the bronze statue, on which lacquer is applied as a base colour.

 

The  statue is  then rubbed with sand paper to smoothen it, painted with lacquer and covered with gold leaf before being polished a last time more.
