Tree Nymph

Name of a species of butterfly with the scientific designation Idea lynceus in the Danainae subfamily, of which there are three known subspecies. i.e. Idea lynceus lynceus, which occurs in Thailand, Myanmar, Peninsular Malaysia (including Langkawi), and on Sumatra; Idea lynceus fumata, which is found on southern Borneo; and Idea lynceus niasica. It has rather slender wings, with a wingspan of around 13.5 to 16.5 centimeters. The wings are overall white, or off-white to greyish-white with black spots. In Thai, this species is known as phi seua ron lom sih mua (ผีเสื้อร่อนลมสีมัว). See also POSTAGE STAMP.
