  Suriyothai riding her war elephant

Memorial at Thung Makhaam Yong, near the city of Ayutthaya commemorating Queen Suriyothai, who was killed on 3 February 1549 in the War of Tabinshweht, fighting off the Burmese whilst riding the king's war elephant, thus sacrificing her life to protect her husband and her country from foreign aggression.
