PREVIOUS MONKEY NEXT MONKEY Vietnam

A Southern Pig-tail Macaque, a species of Macaque also known as Pig-tail Macaque and Beruk. It is distinguished by a short thin tail, that is carried sticking up over the back (fig.). Adult males, like this one, are recognized by their muscular body and large size, almost twice that of females.

On the right, a baby Beruk, still very recognizable by its grayish pink hands with dark brown nails, and its distinctive cap of dark short hairs on the crown. See also List of Thai Animal Names.
