  Royal Thai Naval Academy (former location)

The riverfront gate (fig.) of the former Royal Thai Naval Academy at Thonburi Palace (fig.). It has the Naval Academy's emblem (fig.), i.e. three anchors and a chakra, and a text that reads: Rohng Rian Nai Reua Pho. So.  2449-2489 Phra Rachawang Deum, i.e. Naval Academy BE 2449-2489, Former Palace. The current Royal Thai Naval Academy is located in Samut Prakan.

 

The text is flanked by the Thai letter Cho (), i.e. the initial of King Chulalongkorn, who in 1906 established the school, while in a niche on the right is a memorial plaque with an eulogy by Rama V (fig.). In the back is a statue of King Taksin (fig.), who formerly had the premises as his residence.
