A Painted Jezebel spotted on a Spanish Flag in Bangkok. The pattern and colouring of the wings may differ slightly, depending on the species and sex.

 

Females, such as this one of the subspecies Delias hyparete metarete, are somewhat darker than males and have less yellow on the underside of the hindwing.

Above, the forewings are mainly greyish-blue, with black margins and veins, whereas the hindwings are somewhat lighter and have some very faint red spotting towards the edge.
