Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre

Name of a large exhibition hall and convention center in Bangkok's Khlong Toei district, that was officially opened on 28 August 1991 by King Bhumiphon and Queen Sirikit, and which was initially built to host the 46th Annual Meeting of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, held in Bangkok from 1 to 15 October 1991. Its theatre-style Plenary Hall has a capacity of up to 6000 visitors and has since its opening been used to host all sorts of conferences and exhibitions, as well as national and international events. In short, the centre is called QSNCC and in Thai it is known as Soon Kaan Prachum Haeng Chaht Sirikit (ศูนย์การประชุมแห่งชาติสิริกิติ์). The centre took 16 months to built and was named after the Queen in honour of her 60th birthday.
