Kok River

Name of a shallow, wide and slow-moving river, that originates in Myanmar's Shan State and enters Thailand in the amphur Mae Ai of Chiang Mai Province. It is 285 kilometers long, of which 130 kilometer is in Thailand, where it is known as Mae Nahm Kok (แม่น้ำกก), a name that refers to the many sedges on its banks, which in Thai are called kok. Passing through the city of Chiang Rai, it flows to Chiang Saen District, where it eventually streams into the Mekhong River at Sop Kok (สบกก). See also MAP, QUADCOPTER PICTURE and TRAVEL PICTURE.
