  Flame Tree

Thailand

The Flame Tree, or Flame of the Forest, is a popular ornamental tree, prized for its large, attractive flowers, which have four spreading red petals and a fifth, slightly larger upright petal, which is white with a pale yellow base and spotted with red. The seed pods are bright green, but turn dark brown as they ripen (fig.).

They grow up to 60 centimeters long and are about 5 centimeters wide, but rather thin, almost flat. The leaves are fern-like (pinnate) and bright to dark green.
