Bagaya Kyaung, a wooden monastery in Inwa, is built on a platform that is elevated from the ground by 267 gigantic teak posts, some of which extend to (and support) the roof of the building (fig.).

 

The mango staircases (fig.) made of brick not only give access to the platform, but also support it from the sides.
