  Atumashi Monastery

The main hall of the Atumashi Kyaung (fig.) in Mandalay, which before the fire of 1890 AD housed the principal Buddha image, that was adorned with a large diamond.

 

On the second floor, i.e. the lowest of the terraces, are several gilded porticoes decorated with carvings, that give access to the main hall from three sides, i.e. east, north and south.

This terrace surrounds the hall and is supported by arches on the ground level. It is accessible by staircase.
