  antefix

Thailand

The antefix is an ornament pointing skywards at the bottom end of a roof, usually at the extension of a bai raka. In Thai slang it is called a ngao, literally a ‘hook’. On Buddhist temples it is known as the hang hongse (swan's tail), since it has an ornamental form like the tail of a hongse.
